<image:title>blog - self-actualization is intersectional - “Males as a group have and do benefit the most from patriarchy, from the assumption that they are superior to females and should rule over us. But those benefits have come with a price. In return for all the goodies men receive from patriarchy, they are required to dominate women, to exploit and oppress us, using violence if they must to keep patriarchy intact. Most men find it difficult to be patriarchs. Most men are disturbed by hatred and fear of women, by male violence against women, even the men who perpetrate this violence. But they fear letting go of the benefits. They are not certain what will happen to the world they know most intimately if patriarchy changes. So they find it easier to passively support male domination even when they know in their minds and hearts it is wrong. Again and again men tell me they have no idea what it is feminists want. I believe them. I believe in their capacity to change and grow. And I believe if they knew more about for feminism they would no longer fear it, for they would find in feminist movement the hope of their own release from the bondage of patriarchy. Imagine living in a world where there is no domination, we are females and males are not alike or even always equal, but where in visual of mutuality is the ethos shaping our interaction. Imagine living in a world where we can all be who we are, a world of peace and possibility. Feminist revolution alone will not create such a world; we need to end racism, class elitism, imperialism. But it will make it possible for us to be fully self-actualised [people] able to create beloved community, to live together, realising our dreams of freedom and justice, living the truth that we are all “created equal.” - bell hooks from Feminism is for Everybody</image:title>

<image:title>blog - daily recovery: tree climbing - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Someone challenged me recently by simply asking, “What does your daily recovery practice look like?” • • He said spirituality doesn’t need to wait until the 11th step in recovery. He challenged me to choose one thing. So I put on my new kicks and went on a walk for a coffee. On the way home I spent some time with my new friend, Cedar. I kicked off my shoes and climbed barefoot up to a seat (modestly off the ground - I’m over 40. I mean, know your limits ). The breeze became my prayer and the branches my hammock. I think this is a practice I can stick with. • “My tree” growing up was a huge weeping willow. Sometimes we have to go back to our first loves, the original safe places and rhythms we had before things got complicated and systematic. • What could your simple rhythm look like today?</image:caption>

<image:title>blog - i am enough. - I am not for everyone. Not everyone is for me. I am enough. • This is hard for anyone who likes to be liked. It’s complicated for those who have traumatic experiences with rejection. Growing up in a dysfunctional family can also set us up for this struggle. It can be difficult to hold the actions or inactions of others loosely or decline to let those things speak to our sense of self-worth. • But we can choose to speak the truth to ourselves. I put little reminders all over my house. Little mantras that I repeat to myself until they stick. How can you remind yourself of your power and value today?</image:title>

      <image:title>who I am - rooted in quaker tradition</image:title>
<image:caption>There are nine core beliefs of Quakerism: There is a living, dynamic presence at work in the world which is both within us and outside of us. There is that of Spirit in everyone. Each person is capable of the direct and unmediated experience of God as you understand God. Our understanding of Creator is nurtured and enlarged in community. The Bible is one important spiritual resource, and the life and teachings of Jesus are relevant for us today. The revelation of eternal truth is continuing and ongoing. We welcome truth from whatever source it may come. Our inward experience of God transforms us and leads us into outward expressions of faithful living, witness, and action. Modeling God’s presence in our lives is more important than espousing our beliefs.</image:caption>

      <image:title>services - spiritual direction/companionship</image:title>
<image:caption>Spiritual direction and companionship is a little like putting up the sail of a boat on the sea. The action of creating space for the Divine to come and meet us in silence sets us up to catch the wind of the Spirit’s movement and activity in our lives. Spiritual direction is a confidential relationship between a spiritual seeker, a guide, and the Mystery we identify as our higher power. The true direction is provided by the One sometimes called God. There are many of reasons to seek spiritual direction. One person might feel freshly inspired to begin a new spiritual journey and is looking for a compass to navigate their adventure. Another could be wounded from trauma they have experienced through harmful religious teachings or practice. Sometimes one’s worldview is rocked by a personal experience or revelation, and the spirituality they once knew is no longer a place of refuge for them. Whatever your reason for ending up here today, you are responding to an invitation to a deeper place of intimacy with the Creator. Together, the you and your Spiritual Companion look for the activity of the divine at work like a being in a boat propelled by an unseen force. While the wind itself is invisible, it’s power can be felt and it’s effect seen in the world in which it moves. Putting up our spiritual sail is an act of trust committing to participate more fully in what the Mystery is already doing. Along the way, you obtain a keen discernment of how you are personally experiencing God’s presence and activity in your life and develop a clearer awareness of how the Spirit has been with you throughout your life. I am here to walk alongside you with the goal of healing and growth. I might ask questions that encourage deeper contemplation. Reflections will come in in many forms. Whether in person or meeting remotely, we will listen, watch, and sense the unique movement of the Divine in your present moment. For more information of what to expect and what not to expect, please see our spiritual direction agreement.</image:caption>

      <image:title>services - prayer and energy healing</image:title>
<image:caption>A sacred Christian text asks, “Is anyone among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church, and let the elders pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.” Many world religions have similar ideas of being healed physically or emotionally through spiritual means. Grand Reiki Master Hawayo Takata called reiki energy by various names: God Power, Cosmic Energy, Universal Life Force, Prana, Mana. She said it is always present. We are unaware of it until the contact is made after which it can be received and converted into healing energy. What we offer here is to be a conduit for healing in a way that feels safe and inclusive for all. Reiki is not a technique or a process - it just is. The flow is sensed in the hands, felt usually as heat, sometimes as a vibration or tingling, occasionally in another form. Each person is unique, and there are infinite expressions of this healing energy. Treatments are received in a calm and welcoming environment while fully clothed. The client can choose whether or not they prefer to be touched. The practitioner is not in control over what will happen. The practitioner simply facilitates a healing space to be the channel through which healing is transferred. adapted from Helen J. Haberly</image:caption>
